If you wish to combine privacy, adventure and exotic scenery then this weekly trip will be an unforgettable experience for you!
The west part of Crete is known for its exotic beauty and sailing is the ideal way to explore its inaccessible beaches, coves and history. Along with enjoying the sea and sun we will also discover the gastronomic treasures of this part of Crete by tasting local produce from small farms. You can enjoy it both as a family or a group of friends with the rest of the group!
Embarkation on the boat and check-in at 17:00. Accommodation on board, briefing regarding safety, health and life on board a sailing yacht. A special part of the briefing is dedicated to environment and use of resources, the history and culture of the area.
Take a stroll during the afternoon around the alleys of the old venetian port in Chania and explore its hidden gems before we start our sea adventure. A welcome dinner on shore is offered at a local small family restaurant with organic products.
Wake up on board and enjoy your hearty breakfast before we sail towards Souda peninsula. On the way we will explore secluded coves and enjoy the first refreshing swim of the day.
Our main attraction of the day is Marathi bay, with its crystal blue waters and the fortified Souda islet. The Venetian fortification of the 17th century still amazes although visiting the island is a subject to restrictions as a military area. We choose the best spot to carefully drop our anchor and enjoy a dive and our lunch onboard. Overnight we anchor in front of Marathi village.
We recommend a homemade dinner ashore at the best -off the beaten track- local fish tavern.
You will wake up in the beautiful bay of Marathi. Take a refreshing morning dive before you enjoy your breakfast. A true taste of Summer. Today, we explore the coves around Marathi and Kolymbari where you can enjoy swimming, snorkelling and discovering the area. Rethymno port welcomes us around 16:00. The quiet marina is just outside the centre and near the old Venetian port. Take advantage of the afternoon for a walk at the old town, visit “Fortezza”, the Venetian castle, and enjoy dinner in the old town. You can ask us to arrange a private Historical and Gourmet Tour in the old city****. Dinner at a small local tavern of your choice.
Today we board on the 9-seater minivan after breakfast. Twenty minutes away we find the entrance of the Myloi gorge (gorge of Mills). An easy hike (grade 1) until the abandoned village of Myloi at the centre of the gorge will give you the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the nature surrounding you. Take the time to have a refreshing swim in the river waterfalls of the gorge.
Around 2.5 hrs later we board the minivan and head south to Preveli palm tree forest and beach. A snack at a local taverna before enjoying the sun or exploring the palm tree forest up the river. A unique and exotic scenery that will definitely warm your eyes and body. Dinner at a nearby village with local organic products while enjoying the amazing views.
This morning we sail to Bali, Ag. Pelagia and Dia Island. Bali and Agia Pelagia are two of the most beautiful spots on the south of the island where you can enjoy swimming as well as the beautiful views. Then we head to Dia island and we approach carefully a bay where the “Falco Peregrinus” lives. Equipment for watching the birds is available on board. Tonight we will enjoy a surprise dinner and overnight at anchor at this special spot.
Today we explore Dia island during the day, enjoying tranquil bays, rich flora and interesting stories regarding mythology and medieval times.
We will arrive at Heraklion old Venetian port around 16:00. The capital of Crete, Heraklio is a vibrant town with important history. Take a free walking tour with suggested stops or let us accompany you to some of the hidden gems of the city. A once in a lifetime gastronomic experience awaits you for dinner at “Peskesi”.
We board our minivan after breakfast and get ready to discover the rich history if Crte. Knossos (8km) is our first stop. Our licensed tour guide will unfold the story of Androgeos, the beloved son of King Minos and the Minotaur who roamed the labyrinth. After the tour we go for a taste of amazing local, organic, natural wine in a premium selected winery. Moving out of Heraklion we choose on of the beaches at the south of the island to dive in crystal clear water of the Lybian sea. Surprise dinner at a local tavern in Kapetaniana, a historic stone built village recently revived and known for its energy and delicious local dishes.
Check-out around 10:00 and already dreaming for our next adventure together!
