Even if you are not the morning type it is worth starting your day sailing. The sun is still sweet, the port life slowly wakes-up and there is this feeling that you own the day.
After the pick-up we are meeting at the Old Venetian port. Our staff welcomes you on board, where you will be given a briefing about safety and boat handling. We set our sails and we are off to our destination, Dia island.
Dia is an uninhabited island, 7 nautical miles north of Heraklion and belongs to Natura 2000 project because of its biodiversity. Our trip lasts almost one hour, during which you can enjoy the silence, the sun and the blue surroundings, or you can just participate in sailing with our skilled skipper.
We set our anchor on either Agios Georgios or Panagia bay (depending on the weather conditions), which are located on the south part of the island. Both coves have green, crystal water surrounded by the protected wildlife, like the medium sized “Falco Eleonorae” the lizard Podarcis erchardii schiebeli, the wild goat Capra Aegagrus Cretica, an important rabbit population which belongs to the endemic subspecies Oryctolagus cuniculus cnossicus and the monkseal Monachus monachus.
Our team will tell you everything about the history and the myths of the island!
For about one hour and a half, you are free to enjoy your time as you like. Swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, hanging out, or even isolating to enjoy mother nature. Along with a cool refreshment and some seasonal fruit.
In the meantime, some indulging smell will be coming out of the kitchen because our skipper and host is preparing for you on spot, a yummy meal from fresh and local ingredients.
After your lunch and perhaps after a quick dive, we will set our sails again to return back to Heraklion Venetian port. And who knows maybe on our way back we will spot some of our lovely mammal friends, the dolphins.
